The hotel, established in 1887 by former mayor Pické, was founded to diversify the offerings of the seaside town of Noordwijk beyond fishing. The hotel quickly became a destination for prestigious guests, including members of the royal houses of Holland and Belgium. Drawing inspiration from the hotel's stunning location on the highest sand dune, Studio Sluijzer's design approach prioritized the natural shapes and colors of the dunes. The team created bespoke furniture and utilized materials that enhance the guest experience of luxury and relaxation. The goal of the redesign was to create a space that emphasizes the natural beauty of the area and provides an unforgettable escape for guests.

Het hotel werd in 1887 opgericht door oud-burgemeester Pické met als doel het aanbod van de badplaats Noordwijk te diversifiëren buiten de visserij. Het hotel groeide al snel uit tot een bestemming voor prestigieuze gasten, waaronder leden van de koninklijke huizen van Holland en België. De Studio liet zich inspireren door de prachtige locatie van het hotel boven op de hoogste zandduin.
